Some recent amendments to the traffic regulations have widened the scope for cane transporters designed for off road (e.g. canefield) performance to operate on public roads. The amendments were made possible by studies recommended by the Bureau of Sugar Experiment Stations (BSES) and funded by the Queensland Cane Growers Council (QCGC). This paper outlines the research on cane transporter design by BSES, the amendments to the traffice regulations, and provides recommendations on the design of high floation cane transporters.
