Factors affecting water use in the Millaquin-Qunaba area

Since the introduction of channel water supplies from the Bundaberg Irrigation Scheme to the Millaquin and Qunaba areas, concern has been expressed regarding the difficulty in meeting water requirements of cane crops in high demand situations. A survey of water use on individual farms in relation to soil type and irrigation method was commenced in 1978 and data are available for the 1978-83 period. This report is a preliminary analysis of factors affecting the water use per season in the survey area, and of cane and sugar yields in relation to water use.
