A microcomputer-based juice sample tracker at Condong Mill
By Bentley, GA; Cheetham, BH; Wilson, CM
The juice sampling system at Condong mill was upgraded for the 1982 season at a cost of $25,600. The project involved re-location to the main laboratory, replacement of the sampling equipment and installation of a Sugar Research type sample tracker. The project resulted in a manning reduction of three. During the 1982 and 1983 seasons malfunctions occured in the sample tracker. Tracing the faults was difficult, time consuming and costly and some were never found. Furthermore, some minor changes were needed in the system, and they would have been expensive to make with the hard-wired circuitry. Therefore, the decision was made to replace the SRI tracker with a more modern system.
