The 2.75 m shredder installation at Farleigh mill

By

Extensions to the milling train at Farleigh Mill for 1983 season included a new 2.75 m wide, 1.83 m diameter shredder. The design of the shredder and its installation included an increased angle of wrap of the grid and a means of ensuring distribution across the shredder entry. In this paper, these features are described and some indication of the performance of the shredder are given. Operating and maintenance problems experienced over two seasons of service are also discussed.
