Hardfacing for unlubricated wear resistance

By

In hardfacing of steel or cast iron by arc welding, the properties obtained depend more on the welding conditions than the specific electrode within each broad range listed in the Australian Welding Research Association technical note number 4 (Anon., 1979). Optimum microstructures providing maximum wear resistance for unlubricated conditions are discussed for two different types of electrodes.
