Evaluation of Herbicide programs for green cane trash blanket situations

By

Since 1980 there has been a dramatic increase in the percentage of green cane harvesting being practised in north Queensland, particularly in the drier areas of Mossman, Cairns and Ingham. This increase has been parallelled by the development and greater availability of machines capable of harvesting green cane in a range of conditions. It has allowed many growers to reduce cost of production, benefit from moisture retention and reduce the annual grass infestations almost to the point of elimination. This paper discussed control of weeds in sugarcane crops after green cane harvest.
