The introduction of specialised in-field cane hauling equipment, replacing the traditional piggy-back cane trailer, provided scope for development of a large cane waggon for the tramway system. Boogan Implement Company (B.I.C.) assessed various ways to build a waggon that could be incorporated within existing bin fleets in some of the northern mills. This paper describes the evolution of a prototype 10 tonne bin evaluated at Tully Mill during the 1987 crushing season.
