Modular boiler construction installation at Mulgrave mill, Part Two

Part one of the paper presented at the 1987 ASSCT Conference described the evaluation, planning and scope for the uprating of the Mulgrave No. 7 boiler from 113 tonnes per hour to a rating of 181.4 tonnes per hour. This paper covers the conclusion of that project and describes the events and procedures that took place during the various phases of the contract. The experience gained during the design stages of the boiler extension provided data on the various types of boilers that could be suitable for future upgrading. This paper also describes the guidelines, problems and benefits that should be considered when increasing boiler capacity and the type of boiler most suitable for extension.
