The modified feed SRI subsider at Rocky Point mill

The decision by Rocky Point mill to convert their 7.3 m diameter Sargeants subsider to the SRI design for the 1988 crushing season afforded Sugar Research Institute the opportunity of designing a simplified two point radial feed system for inclusion in this unit. The basis of the SRI subsider design was the minimisation of cross flow by means of multipoint feed and clear juice takeoff. To achieve this aim, the original 6.1 m diameter SRI subsider incorporated a combined annular feed launder/feed well with annular takeoff launders concentric to, and located inside and outside the feed system.
