Cusum charts as an aid to monitoring factory performance

Sugar mill process management involves frequent review and interpretation of performance data. The information contained within these data however is not always fully utilised, and subjective assessment of perceived abnormalities can lead to changes being made to a process which is being managed quite satisfactorily. It can also result in the possibility of making further improvements being overlooked. This paper describes work carried out to develop a system of trend identification for reporting the performance of sugar mill processes with respect to established performance objectives.
