A proposed method of cane analysis

The present method of cane analysis in Queensland has survived for 70 years because it is simple and gives a result which is not grossly in error, while the structural and regulatory restraints on the sugar industry make it difficult to introduce alternatives. This paper proposes a method of cane analysis which is as accurate as can be achieved with present-day technology. It overcomes many of the disadvantages of the present method, and reduces labour compared with the present method, though at the expense of increased investment.
