Biological nitrogen fixation and sugarcane

By

In this paper, the results of two years of field assays, using the acetylene reduction technique, at different sites with different moisture and fertiliser treatments, are reported. Studies with cane plants indicate the presence of different diazotrophs within the plants, and provide presumptive evidence for significant levels of nitrogen fixation by these bacteria.
