It offers a cost effective method of surveying canefields as required un the Sugar Industry Act and can be fitted to canefield locomotives as a cost effective safety and management tool. This paper describes the on-going research at Tully Sugar in relation to caneland productivity monitoring, the potential benefits of GPS as a cost-effective tool in caneland management and the evaluation GPS and associated software packages for mapping and tracking systems.
