Use of the AUSCANE model to predict crop yield for land evaluation studies in the Herbert River district

By

This paper reports on the use of the AUSCANE simulation model as a predictor of crop yield. The AUSCANE model has played a significant role in the development of a tripartite system of land evaluation based on crop yield prediction, expert systems and risk analysis (Johnson and Cramb, 1991). The system has been developed successfully for a range of land uses, including sugarcane in the Herbert River.
