RSD control in Bingera mill area and problems encountered
By Dominiak, BC; Sinnamon, LR; Jones, CD; Taylor, PWJ
Ratoon stunting disease (RSD) caused by Clavibacter xyli subsp. xyli, is found in most canegrowing areas of the world (Gillaspie and Teakle, 1989), and is conservatively estimated to cause $10m losses annually to the Australian sugar industry. This paper outlines the recent history of RSD in the Bingera mill area and examines cases where the recommended procedures failed to control the transmission of RSD although they are effective in most instances.
