Application of a variable frequency drive on a rotary tippler
By Childs, HE
The cane bin tippler installed at Marian Mill in 1990 during the factory expansion to 670 tonnes of cane per hour (tc/h) incorporated the drive train and electrical controls from the previous tippler. The increased duty resulting from the reduced cycle times created problems with the electrical drive. This paper describes these problems and the successful installation of a variable frequency controlled electric drive to overcome them.
