A crushing rate increase from 450 to 670 tonnes of cane per hour at Marian Mill required changes to the bagasse handling system, in particular, to the N.Q.E.A. bagasse bin so that its capacity to handle the bagasse quantity was not exceeded. This paper describes the modifications to the bagasse bin to provide electrical power to the rotating section, and outlines the control strategy for the total section.
