Greyback canegrub control with suSCon Blue controlled-release insecticide

Data are reviewed for three series of field trials set out to test the controlled-release insecticide suSCon Blue for greyback grub control. The evidence demonstrates that a single row-centred band of granules is effective. This should be applied at sett level where this is 140-200 mm from the row surface, or above sett level but at least 150 mm below the surface where deep planting or pronounced hilling up are practised. Recommendations for various soil and moisture conditions are discussed.
