A technique for prediction of rainfall duration from daily rainfall data in the Australian sugar belt
By Liu, DL; Kingston, G
Analysis of data from automatic weather stations at Harwood, Rocky Point, Nambour, Bundaberg, Tully and Mossman showed that rainfall duration was significantly associated with daily rainfall and variation in radiation received on the rain-day. Latitude and season also affected rainfall duration. The combination of daily rainfall, rain-day radiation, season and latitude provided a good predictor of rainfall duration and accounted for 75% to 92% of the variation in rainfall duration.
