Optimising locomotive loads

SRI has recently undertaken the development of locomotive load monitors to provide a quantitative and immediately available measure of load on the locomotive. The load monitors are designed to display a reading of drawbar load in the locomotive cabin. Using the load monitor, it should be feasible to define load limits in terms of actual drawbar loads. Such a drawbar load limit then would enable locomotive to haul more bins when the mass of cane in bins fall below nominal levels.
