Pneumatic conveying of bagasse

The aim of this work is to determine relationships that will allow the design of pneumatic conveying systems for bagasse. To date, research has concerned the conveying of dry bagasse in straight duct sections. Experiments on wet bagasse are yet to be undertaken. Comparison of the experimental results for the conveying of dry bagasse in straight sections with models for other materials show that they do not accurately predict the behaviour of conveyed bagasse. The initial results indicate that the power requirements for bagasse conveying are greater than is predicted by models that assume regularly shaped particles.
