A method for analysing soil structure changes caused by cane harvesting equipment
By Conway, D; Porter, M; Braunack, M
The analysis of soil structure changes in cane growing situations is an important requirement in the search for a better understanding of how soil compaction affects sugarcane growth. This paper describes how soil structure images were obtained and analysed. Large differences in structure were observed between row and interrow locations for cane crops at two different growth stages. Porosity values obtained from the image analysis technique are compared with those obtained from soil cores.
