Strategies for meeting stack emission regulations for the Australian sugar industry

By

Across the sugar industry, factories are developing plans to monitor and control their boiler emission levels. This paper discusses some of the different options available to factories to control emission levels. Are dry dust collectors a thing of the past? What off-the-shelf wet dust collector systems are available? Can the existing dry system be modified to meet possible future, target emission levels? The Sugar Research Institute has developed a system that converts a dry dust collector system to wet operation. This system has been developed over the past three years at Mossman Mill and more recently during the 1998 crushing season at Pleystowe Mill. Also, ROLLPRESS-WRIGHTS is currently developing a system to work in series with an existing dry dust collector system.
