An experimental investigation into the effect of mill orientation angle on reabsorption factor

By

The effect of mill orientation angle on reabsorption was investigated through a laboratory experiment using the C.R. Murry Experimental Milling Facility. With the blanket feeding in the vertically upward direction, a 20% reduction in measured reabsorption was consistently observed. A MILSIM model of this scenario predicted a 2.2 unit increase in 'Juice percent Juice' extraction and an 8.8 unit reduction in final bagasse moisture content for a five-mill train.
