Pan/fugal station modelling for planning factory upgrades

Models to predict the mass flow rates and composition of the different process streams
for the pan and fugal stations in Australian raw sugar factories have been developed.
The models incorporate several options for the three massecuite boiling scheme that is
used universally by Australian mills to produce shipment sugar from the two high purity
massecuite streams. The basis of the models and their application to planning factory
upgrades are discussed. The influence of cane conditions (sugar and impurity contel1l)
and pan stage exhaustion performance are considered.
