THE EFFECT OF DIRT ON BAGASSE QUANTITY AND HEATING VALUE

This paper highlights the effect of dirt in cane on the estimation of bagasse quantity, and on the calorific value of the bagasse. Knowledge of these values is particularly important when specifying the operating parameters for bagasse boilers in cogeneration schemes. A new expression is derived for the determination of the bagasse quantity and quality that takes the dirt content and bagacillo losses into consideration.
