SEPARATING HIGH PURITY B MOLASSES FOR HIGH POL SUGAR PRODUCTION
By K. GRIFFIN, P.R. STUART and B. STEVENSON
IN 2001, Pleystowe Mill produced approximately 21 000 tonnes of QHP sugar as
a trial. Prior to the season, valving and pipework were installed to allow
diversion of the higher purity portion of the B molasses stream to A molasses.
This paper describes the installation and logic of the system and presents an
analysis of the effects on the purity and rate of the pan station streams. The
paper also includes some observations when using the system for IHP sugar
production during the 2005 season.
