MODDUS® -A SUGAR ENHANCER

TRINEXAPAC-ETHYL is the active ingredient of the plant growth regulator MODDUS®, which was first registered in Switzerland and France in 1991 and has since been granted registrations in many other countries. MODDUS® now has many registrations world wide in sugarcane. Since 2001, MODDUS® has been trialled in Australia on sugarcane with registration expected in 2007. The trials conducted in sugarcane between 2001 and 2006 have shown that MODDUS® is able to enhance the sugar content of the cane, making sugar production more economically viable. Commercial cane sugar (CCS) was increased by 0-1.8 units in the Herbert River District in 2004 and 2005. These variable results can be attributed to crop agronomy, variety and seasonal influences.
